Madame Web is a movie based on the Spider-Man comics character of the same name, who is a blind and paralyzed psychic who can see the past, present, and future of the Spider-Verse, a multiverse of alternate realities where different versions of Spider-Man exist. The movie stars Dakota Johnson as Cassandra Webb, a young woman who inherits Madame Web’s powers after being bitten by a mystical spider that also gave her mother (played by Julianne Moore) the same abilities before she died.

The movie is set in 2003, and follows Cassie as she tries to stop a villain named Ezekiel Sims (played by Tahar Rahim), who also has spider powers and wants to kill three teenage girls (played by Sydney Sweeney, Celeste O’Connor, and Isabela Merced) who are destined to become Spider-Women in the future. Cassie is aided by her friend Ben Parker (played by Adam Scott), who is the uncle of Peter Parker, the future Spider-Man.

The Ending of Madame Web

The movie ends with Cassie defeating Ezekiel and saving the three girls, who discover their spider powers and form a bond with Cassie. Cassie also learns that her mother is still alive, and that she was taken by a mysterious organization called the Web of Life and Destiny, which oversees the Spider-Verse and recruits Madame Webs from different realities.

Cassie decides to join the organization and reunite with her mother, while also promising to keep in touch with the Spider-Women and Ben. Ben, meanwhile, reveals to his pregnant sister Mary (played by Emma Roberts) that he knows about Cassie’s powers and that he supports her. He also tells her that he has a feeling that her son Peter will be special.

The Post-Credits Scene of Madame Web

Madame Web does not have a post-credits scene, unlike other movies in Sony’s Spider-Man Universe, such as Venom and Morbius. However, the movie does set up the possibility of future sequels or spin-offs, featuring the Spider-Women, Madame Web, and Spider-Man.

The movie also hints at the connection between Sony’s Spider-Man Universe and the Marvel Cinematic Universe, where Tom Holland’s Spider-Man appears. For example, the movie mentions that Cassie’s spider bite gave her a genetic marker that is similar to Peter’s, implying that they share a common origin.

The movie also shows a newspaper headline that reads “Stark Industries to Launch New Satellite”, suggesting that Tony Stark (played by Robert Downey Jr.) exists in the same world as Cassie and Ben. The movie also leaves open the question of whether Ben will die and inspire Peter to become Spider-Man, as he does in the comics and other adaptations.
