Social distancing has motivated people to find ways to have fun at home. For others, it is trying out every recipe in the new Nothing Fancy cookbook from Alison Roman, and for others, it is dropping down a rabbit hole in social media and discovering the most relaxing and enjoyable food material to watch and recreate.
That’s where the new move against Dalgona Coffee comes in. Due to its simple three-ingredient recipe and appealing creamy texture, the iced coffee went viral on Instagram, Tik Tok and other platforms.
The South Korean dalgona candy is influenced by Dalgona coffee, a toffee sponge that resembles the creamy dollop that tops the iced coffee. All you need is two table spoons of instant coffee, sugar and hot water. Then blend them well and beat the mixture with a whisk until thick and fluffy. Apply ice, then milk to a clear glass (preferably), and top with the coffee mixture.
With over 14,000 posts under the hashtag # dalgonacoffee, the Dalgona coffee phenomenon is bringing the world’s coffee-obsessed population a new way to have coffee at home
