It’s not yet over. This is due to Ulysses, the country’s 21st tropical cyclone this year, which intensified into a typhoon while entering the Quezon-Aurora region, several areas in Luzon were put under Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 3.

Ulysses which has the international name: Vamco, was listed as a typhoon at 8 a.m. From the original 110 kph, it now carries maximum sustained winds of 125 kilometers per hour near the center and gusts of up to 155 kph from the previous 125 kph.

PAGASA cautioned that over the northern parts of Catanduanes, Camarines Sur and Camarines Norte, regions battered by Super Typhoon Rolly, and over Aurora and the northern part of Quezon, destructive winds and heavy with often torrential rainfall along with the typhoon’s eyewall and its inner rainbands will be witnessed.

For this reason, Esperanza Cayanan, head of the weather division of PAGASA, said the most important time will be this evening as she advised the public to brace ahead of the landfall of the typhoon. They adviced that people shouldn’t be complacent and shouldn’t behave just when it rains heavily because it’s hard to evacuate when it’s dark in the evening. Since Ulysses will make landfall in Quezon in the evening.

The Dumping over Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur and Catanduanes will be moderate to severe with torrential rains at times. Albay, Sorsogon, Quezon including Polillo Islands and Burias and Ticao Islands will be hit by mild to strong with often severe rains. Meanwhile, with sometimes heavy rainfall, those staying in Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon and Visayas will have mild to moderate conditions.
