UAE: Flying car ‘X2’ makes first public flight in Dubai

In an effort to introduce its electric aircraft to global markets, Chinese electronic vehicle manufacturer Xpeng Inc.’s “flying car” performed its first public flight in the United Arab Emirates.

A two-seater electric VTOL aircraft, the X2 is propelled by eight propellers, two of which are located in each corner of the craft.

The manufacturer of the vehicle hailed Monday’s 90-minute, unmanned test flight in Dubai as “an essential base for the future generation of flying automobiles.”

According to Minguan Qiu, general manager of Xpeng Aeroht, “We are making step-by-step (moves) to the international market.” “Dubai is the most innovative city in the world, so we first chose Dubai as our location.”

Vice Chairman and President of XPeng Dr. Brian Gu commended Dubai International Chamber, the company’s key partner, for helping to navigate the Dubai market and providing crucial assistance in facilitating the test flight’s success in Dubai.

In conjunction with GITEX Global 2022, which is being staged at the Dubai World Trade Center, the test flight was done.

In a positive outlook, the UAE is implementing numerous different actions to combat climate change, including regulating emissions, decreasing natural gas flaring, improving energy efficiency, and more.

The UAE Net Zero by 2050 strategic effort aims to make the UAE the first country in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050.

The programme is in line with the UAE’s plan to accelerate national economic development as the country celebrates its golden jubilee and embarks on a new 50-year cycle of growth, known as the Principles of the 50. The significant economic potential that the path to net zero presents directly support the goal of making the Emirates’ economy the most dynamic in the world.
