The UAE Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology (MoIAT) declared its active participation in the launch of a Centre for Industrial Competences, an initiative undertaken in cooperation with BRICS countries and the United Nations Industrial Development Organisation (UNIDO), in a major step to improve global industrial capability. This new center offers a strong forum for the sharing of skills, knowledge, and experience between countries, therefore transforming the field of industrial development.

Eighth BRICS Industry Ministers Meeting: Encouragement of Multilateral Industrial Cooperation

Made during the much awaited eighth BRICS Industry Ministers Meeting, a major gathering of industry, commerce, and technology ministers from a varied set of countries including the UAE, Russia, Brazil, China, Egypt, Ethiopia, India, Iran, and South Africa, the announcement was made. Russia chaired this conference with the topic “strengthening Multilateralism for Equitable Global Development and Security.” This theme emphasizes the crucial need of group effort in tackling the several issues of the New Industrial Revolution (NIR) and guaranteeing that industrial growth is inclusive and sustainable.

One important result of this conference is the Centre for industry Competences, which is meant to act as a focus for developing industry competences and strengthening cooperation. Its goal is to spot and address the changing issues of the worldwide industrial scene while also grabbing newly presented possibilities. The centre hopes to empower sectors with the skills and knowledge required to flourish in a fast changing environment by enabling cooperation among BRICS countries and beyond.

Strategic Role of UAE in World Industrial Development

Under-secretary of the UAE Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology Omar Al Suwaidi praised Russia’s leadership in planning the conference and underlined the importance of BRICS nations in the international scene. “BRICS countries account for almost a third of the world’s GDP and almost 45 percent of its population,” Al Suwaidi said. “This offers a great chance for cooperative industrial advancement and environmentally friendly development.”

Al Suwaidi underlined the UAE’s relentless dedication to strengthening ties with international partners, seeing this cooperation as a key engine of sustainable development and a necessary tool for tackling significant world issues including food security and climate change. He also mentioned that the UAE Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology is keen to support the several working groups that would be formed under this new cooperation by bringing the UAE’s great knowledge to use in support of industrial development for the shared benefit of all members.

Strategic Initiatives and Focus Areas: Crafting the industrial future

Several specialized working groups, each concentrating on important sectors vital to the future of business, are part of the declaration issued during the conference. These industries comprise the chemical sector, metals, small and medium-sized businesses (SMEs), smart manufacturing, clean technology, and medical equipment. Driving innovation, encouraging cooperation, and making sure BRICS nations remain at the forefront of industrial developments will all depend mostly on these working groups.

Apart from these sector-specific projects, the BRICS members confirmed their will to match their industrial strategies with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), especially SDG 9, which addresses industry, innovation, and infrastructure. Reflecting the group’s commitment to advancing environmentally friendly and sustainable industrial practices, the application of green technologies was also underlined as a top priority. This dedication to green technologies aims not just to lower environmental impact but also to establish BRICS countries as leaders in the worldwide change to a more sustainable industrial future.
