Twitter announced on Sunday that it will deactivate accounts that were created exclusively for the aim of promoting other social platforms and content that contains links or usernames.
This action will take place in the coming days.
According to a tweet from Twitter support, the change would have an effect on the content of social media platforms such as Mastodon, Truth Social, Tribel, Nostr, and Post in addition to Facebook and Instagram owned by Meta Platforms. Additionally, the move would permit cross-content posting.
The short video-sharing platform TikTok, which is owned by China’s ByteDance Ltd, was omitted from the list.

Since Elon Musk, who is also the CEO of Tesla, purchased the social network, there have been a number of disorderly acts taken by Twitter, which led to the change in policy.

As a result of the controversy surrounding the publication of public data regarding the billionaire’s jet, Musk also suspended the accounts of many journalists.
Musk reinstated the accounts after receiving protest on Friday from government officials, advocacy groups, and news organizations from many areas of the globe. Some of the critics argued that the microblogging platform posed a threat to the freedom of the press.
