KUALA LUMPUR – While it is not required to wear face masks outside, Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Abdul Hamid Bador said that IGP encourages tthe public to do so for the safety of frontline workers.
Abdul Hamid said that it is not required on MCO. But recommended for the police personnel’s safety on the ground when communicating.
The Inspector-General confirmed on Saturday (March 21) that 6 police personnel tested positive for the Covid-19 while carrying out their duties during the outbreak.
Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) also cancelled their policy that made it compulsary for everyone to use face masks. Senior Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob already reiterated that there was no requirement for the public to wear face masks and any establishments imposing such rules is violating the government’s directive.
World Health Organisation issued an advisory on their website that wearing mask should only be limited if one is coughing or taking care of a suspected Covid-19 carrier.
